keepin it fresh: whale watching

Here are two tasty news bites for you. I think they're interesting because they are vaguely related and both interrupted the haze that usually covers me when I read news stories. Blah blah musharref attorneys peshawar huh? Even Britney doesn't break through anymore.

But these two did: One relates to why we're so cold, us people, and what warms us, or opens us, at least as the wallet goes. I did some morality test online once (here's an example) that told me I had a primitive morality: I am interested in helping people who are close to me, or who I know, to the neglect of faraway problems. (all politics is local? Anyone?) But I'm not alone!

So the headline of that article is "People Only Want To Help One Person." What's interesting to me is how concerned I've become about two whales.

Local & large scale (but small quality) means my neanderthal heart & mind get it. Are you following these guys too?

i think my camera's busted

it's quite a stumbling block. i want to take so many pictures!

1) lola graduated!
2) the garden is AWESOME!
3) i was in a fun show!
4) my hair looked really cool!

but no. i am scared to turn it on- i haven't downloaded pix for wayyy too long (before Sylvia's wedding, for sure!) and I'm terrified they're lost. Thanks for listening.

I sent her these lovely lavender roses. My company certified that they were grown "sustainably," but they definitely came in on a plane from Ecuador. doesn't sustainablility relate to carbon neutrality? Ah well, at least the workers had health care.

Aint they (the flowers) perty? I think so. I almost got the chartreuse ones, but those are for me. These are for moms.

what i meant was

i think you're super rad. while i work out what i actually want and what i can actually handle, let's not f up our friendship getting dramatic.

i hope that came through when i said "let's be cool" and "i think you're way cool" and agreed that I am also "of two minds." i think it did...

cause we laughed, and he doesn't seem so fragile as t made it sound. i mean, he did call to say "if you want to forget it, it's cool, but let's not be weird." which of course is a setup, but even so.

btw the photo below is from my visit with emls & bootsy this weekend. a delicious road trip that had me walking crazy tall & strong on Monday. what a difference a whole bunch of air, sunshine, tall trees & cute friends can make.
